According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck the Alaska Peninsula region on Sunday.

Following the earthquake, the US Tsunami Warning System raised concerns about a potential tsunami.

The USGS reported that the earthquake had a depth of 9.3 km (5.78 miles).
