an Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was arrested Sunday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a late night drug bust case on a luxury cruise off the Mumbai coast.

The NCB booked him under certain sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act pertaining to consumption, sale and purchase of banned substances.

Khan was among the three arrested by the federal counter drugs agency. The other two arrested were identified as Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaaz Merchant. Merchant is considered to be a friend of Khan and the two are suspected to have travelled together.

The trio were produced before the holiday magistrate court for want of custody. The NCB prosecutor while seeking two days custody argued that the peddler-network, certain Whatsapp chats and larger conspiracy needs to be unearthed and therefore the custodial interrogations were necessary to confront the trio on the same.

The defence counsel argued that Khan was a special guest invited by the organisers and wasn’t carrying a boarding pass. Also the sections invoked are bailable in nature.

Court after hearing both the sides remanded the trio to one-day police custody.
According to the arrest memo issued against Khan, he was placed under arrest at 2pm on Sunday. “….. you have been placed under arrest for your involvement of consumption, sell and purchase of contraband punishable under NDPS Act, 1985 with other known and unknown person for contravention of section 8 (c ) and committing offences punishable under sections 20 (b), 27 read with 35 of NDPS Act,” the memo states…
